Find the perfect color for your facade
Get the appA façade is the face of a house and shows the style of the people who live in it. The aim of the Baumit Life Challenge is to show that there is a lot of valuable and creative potential in plaster and the combination of different materials, texture, form and color.
In 2012 Baumit introduced “Life” – Europe’s largest color program for the façade. Imagination, craftsmanship and colors brought us to the idea to raise the awareness about architecture and good design on the façade: Baumit Life Challenge was born!
After the success of the first award ceremony in 2014 in Vienna (Austria), the Baumit Life Challenge takes place every second year to celebrate and award the best façades of Europe. About 500 guests from all 25 Baumit countries are attracted by this event, with the best Baumit architects, investors and partners.
More than 300 projects from all Baumit countries are judged by a high caliber panel of 13 independent experts before the final. The 6 highest-rated façades in each category will be qualified as "nominees" for the final price giving ceremony. Right before the event the jury panel will choose the final winners in each category as well as the Life Challenge Award winner – the best of the best facades.
In addition to the expert rating there is also a public voting, where everyone can rate for his favorite facades. The public voting starts about 2 months before the award.
These are the categories of the Baumit Life Challenge.
The Life Challenge Award 2022 went to the Cukrarna gallery in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Architect: Scapelab d.o.o.
The Life Challenge Award 2021 went to MO Museum in Vilnus (LT). Architects: “Studio Libeskind” and “Do Architects”. Constructor: UAB „Naresta“.
Baumit Slovakia hosted the third event at the Philharmony in Bratislava. More than 320 projects were judged by the jury panel in 2018 making Spain the winner.
The Life Challenge 2016 in Madrid attracted more than 400 architects, developers and applicators from 21 countries. A Slovakian facade took home the main award.
The first award in Vienna, Austria was the kick-off event. An international expert jury of 15 selected architects awarded a Spanish facade as the Life Challenge winner of 2014.
If you own, built or designed a building with a Baumit facade that has what it takes to win in one of the categories or even the main prize then get in touch with us and submit it for the next edition of Life Challenge in 2024. We are looking forward to hearing from you!
